Alexander Cohen, MD

Was awarded a scholarship in 2004.

He was eligible due to the work-related injury of his father. In 2009 he received a BS in biomedical engineering from Tufts University where he graduated magna cum laude. In 2012 he received an MD from Tufts University School of Medicine where in his final year he was in the top 25% of his class. He is a general surgery resident at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Cohen has taken part in many wonderful research opportunities ranging from drug development to computational fluid dynamics of complex intracerebral aneurysms.

"The Friends of 440 scholarship helped to get my academic career off the ground and allow me to pursue my dream education. That path has in turn allowed me to become a successful medical student and ultimately will allow me to be a skilled and compassionate physician.

I can honestly say that many helped me pave the way to my goal, but the 440 Scholarship Fund will always have a special place in that journey. Some may ask how the scholarship influenced my life, and all I can answer is how often do you write down a goal and reflect upon it years later only to realize you have actually successfully completed that goal? Thank you."
